Message from Commander Mike

Welcome! We’re glad you’re here. My name is Mike Furey and I’m the Commander of our Awana program at First Baptist Churh Union, Missouri. Hopefully your child is already a part of our Awana program but if not, we hope you’ll consider getting involved here. There is information on this website to help you understand what Awana is, why we do it, and how we do it. I believe firmly that all people, especially our children, need to be Biblically grounded, able to understand what they believe and why they believe it so that we will “no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming” (Ephesians 4:14) and so we will “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have” (1 Peter 3:15).

Our greatest prayer for all young people (and their families) who participate in Awana here is that each will surrender their lives to the lordship of Jesus Christ and accept gratefully and humbly the gift of eternal life. Anything we can do to assist in that process is our greatest priority. Let us be a part of that journey for you and your children.
